Decommissioning of the Nidoma DNS service
DNS record management on Nidoma is disabled: it is not possible to add new records or modify existing ones. At the moment we keep only the DNS zones that were already present at the time of service deactivation, with configurations frozen since then.
On December 1, 2026 the custom DNS zones service will be permanently discontinued. From that date we will no longer provide answers for the related records, including MX records needed for email reception. To ensure site and email continuity, you must transfer DNS management to another provider before this deadline.
We made this decision to align our reality with the European legislative landscape, aware that today DNS management is offered with excellent results, and often for free, by specialized providers that give you greater control.
We know this change causes inconvenience. That's why we explain how to proceed step by step and we help you if needed.
Does the change affect you?
Yes, if your domain uses our nameservers (ns1.nidomans.com and ns2.nidomans.com) and has custom records: a website (A or CNAME record), email (MX record) or email verification and signing (TXT, SPF, DKIM records).
No, and you need do nothing, if:
- your domain already uses another provider's nameservers;
- your domain has no custom records and only shows Nidoma's placeholder page;
- your domain is for sale on our marketplace.
This does not change domain registration, renewal, ownership, nor pending orders or current orders. It only changes where the DNS records are managed.
The deadline
DNS management is already disabled. Until the decommissioning on December 1, 2026, we will keep the previously configured records operational, with no possibility to add or modify them.
From December 1, 2026 we will no longer serve custom DNS records, including MX records. If you have not completed the migration, the site and email reception will no longer work via these configurations.
You can transfer DNS management to another provider right now. We recommend completing the transition well before the deadline to have enough time to verify all services.
What you need to do
-
Note the currently configured records. You can view them in the domain management panel. If you prefer, ask us for a copy and we will send it to you.
-
Choose where to manage your DNS. Your hosting provider often includes this service; alternatively, Cloudflare offers it for free. The guide is further below.
-
Create the records at the new provider, copying the ones already configured.
-
Replace the domain's nameservers with those indicated by the new provider. If you cannot do it yourself, write to us and we will do it for you.
-
Verify that everything works, especially the site and email. The change may take a few hours to propagate across the Internet, up to 24–48 hours.
To avoid interruptions, copy and verify all records before changing the nameservers and complete the transition well before December 1. During propagation, the old and new nameservers can thus provide the same responses.
Step-by-step guide with Cloudflare
Cloudflare offers DNS management in its free plan, with a full panel and a global network.
-
Create an account on cloudflare.com or log in to the one you already have.
-
Add your domain («Add a domain») and choose the Free plan.
-
Check the records proposed by Cloudflare. Cloudflare tries to copy the current records, but may not detect all of them: less common subdomains and email signatures, such as DKIM TXT records, are most often missed. Compare them with the prepared list and add the missing ones.
-
Leave email without proxy. MX records do not use the proxy. Any A, AAAA, or CNAME records for mail servers that they point to must also remain in «DNS only» mode, with the gray cloud. For the website you can enable the proxy, indicated by the orange cloud, if you want to use Cloudflare's features.
-
Note the two nameservers assigned by Cloudflare, of the form name.ns.cloudflare.com.
-
Replace the domain's nameservers with those assigned by Cloudflare, or ask us to do it.
-
Wait for confirmation. Cloudflare will email you when the domain is active. From then on you can manage records directly on Cloudflare whenever you want.
If DNSSEC is enabled on the domain, contact us before step 6: it must be disabled before the change and re-enabled later on Cloudflare.
Other providers
The procedure is the same with any DNS provider: create the domain zone, copy the records, change the nameservers, and verify operation.
If your site is hosted by another provider, check first whether the hosting service already includes DNS management: often it is the simplest solution.
Frequently asked questions
Can I still modify DNS records on Nidoma?
No. Management is disabled: we temporarily keep only the configurations that were present when the service was disabled. To add or modify records you must transfer management to another provider.
Do I have to pay anything?
Not to us. Many providers include DNS management and Cloudflare offers it for free in the Free plan.
Will my site or email suffer interruptions?
The transition can be carried out without interruptions if you correctly copy all records to the new provider before changing the nameservers and complete the migration well before the decommissioning. Always verify the site and email functionality after the change.
What happens if I do nothing?
Until the decommissioning on December 1, 2026, the already configured records will continue to work, with no possibility to modify them. From that date we will no longer serve custom records, including MX: the site linked to the previous configuration and email reception will stop working until you complete the transition. Domains remaining on our nameservers will show Nidoma's placeholder page. The domain will remain yours.
Can you take care of it for me?
We help you: we can send you a copy of the records and change the domain's nameservers once you have completed the configuration at the new provider. Write to us.
Will I lose my records?
You can keep them by copying them before the decommissioning. If you need them, ask us for a copy before December 1, 2026 and we will send it to you.
