Discontinuation of Nidoma’s DNS Service
DNS record management on Nidoma has been disabled: you can no longer add new records or edit existing ones. We currently keep only the DNS zones that were already in place when management was disabled active, with their configurations frozen as they were at that time.
On 1 December 2026, the service for custom DNS zones will be permanently discontinued. From that date, we will no longer answer DNS queries for the associated records, including the MX records required to receive email. To keep your website and email working, you must move your DNS management to another provider before this deadline.
We have made this decision to adapt a business like ours to the European regulatory landscape, recognising that specialist providers now offer excellent DNS management services, often free of charge, with greater control for you.
We understand that this change causes inconvenience. That is why we explain the process step by step below and are available to help if you need assistance.
Does this change affect you?
Yes, if your domain uses our nameservers (ns1.nidomans.com and ns2.nidomans.com) and has custom records for a website (A or CNAME records), email (MX records), or verification and email authentication (TXT, SPF or DKIM records).
No, and you do not need to do anything, if:
- your domain already uses another provider’s nameservers;
- your domain has no custom records and only displays the Nidoma parking page;
- your domain is listed for sale on our marketplace.
Your domain registrations, renewals and ownership will remain unchanged, as will your backorders and pending orders. Only the location where your DNS records are managed will change.
The deadline
DNS management has already been disabled. Until the service is discontinued on 1 December 2026, existing records will remain operational, but you cannot add or edit records.
From 1 December 2026, we will no longer serve custom DNS records, including MX records. If you have not completed the migration, your website and incoming email will no longer work through these configurations.
You can move your DNS management to another provider now. We recommend completing the move well before the deadline so that you have enough time to check that all services are working correctly.
What you need to do
- Make a copy of your current records. You can view them in your domain management panel. Alternatively, ask us for a copy and we will send it to you.
- Choose where to manage your DNS. Your hosting provider may already include this service; alternatively, Cloudflare offers it free of charge. You will find a guide below.
- Create the records with your new provider, copying your existing configuration.
- Replace your domain’s nameservers with those supplied by your new provider. If you cannot do this yourself, contact us and we will do it for you.
- Check that everything works, especially your website and email. The change may take a few hours to become visible across the Internet, and in some cases up to 24–48 hours.
To avoid interruptions, copy and check all records before changing the nameservers, and complete the move well before 1 December 2026. This will allow both the old and new nameservers to provide the same responses during propagation.
Step-by-step guide for Cloudflare
Cloudflare includes DNS management in its Free plan, with a comprehensive dashboard and a global network.
- Create an account at cloudflare.com or sign in to your existing account.
- Add your domain (“Add a domain”) and select the Free plan.
- Check the records detected by Cloudflare. Cloudflare attempts to copy your current records, but it may not find all of them. Less common subdomains and email authentication records, such as DKIM TXT records, are particularly likely to be missed. Compare them with the list you prepared and add any missing records.
- Keep email-related records unproxied. MX records do not use the proxy. Any A, AAAA or CNAME records for the mail servers they point to must also remain in “DNS only” mode, indicated by the grey cloud. For your website, you can enable the proxy, indicated by the orange cloud, if you wish to use Cloudflare’s features.
- Make a note of the two nameservers assigned by Cloudflare, such as name.ns.cloudflare.com.
- Replace your domain’s nameservers with those assigned by Cloudflare, or ask us to do it for you.
- Wait for confirmation. Cloudflare will notify you by email when your domain is active. You can then manage your records directly in Cloudflare whenever you need to.
If DNSSEC is enabled on your domain, contact us before step 6: it must be disabled before the change and re-enabled afterwards on Cloudflare.
Other providers
The process is the same with any DNS provider: create the domain’s DNS zone, copy the records, change the nameservers and check that everything works.
If your website is hosted by another provider, first check whether your hosting service already includes DNS management. This is often the simplest option.
Frequently asked questions
Can I still edit DNS records on Nidoma?
No. DNS management has been disabled. We are temporarily keeping only the configurations that were already in place when management was disabled operational. To add or edit records, you must move your DNS management to another provider.
Do I have to pay anything?
Not to us. Many providers include DNS management, and Cloudflare offers it free of charge with its Free plan.
Will my website or email experience any interruptions?
The move can be completed without interruptions if you correctly copy all records to your new provider before changing the nameservers and complete the migration well before the service is discontinued. Always check that your website and email work after the change.
What happens if I do nothing?
Until the service is discontinued on 1 December 2026, your existing records will continue to work, but you will not be able to edit them. From that date, we will no longer serve custom records, including MX records: the website connected to the previous configuration and incoming email will stop working until you complete the move. Domains that remain on our nameservers will display the Nidoma parking page. Your domain will remain yours.
Can you handle this for me?
We can help by sending you a copy of your records and changing your domain’s nameservers once you have completed the configuration with your new provider. Contact us for assistance.
Will I lose my records?
You can keep a copy of your records by saving them before the service is discontinued. If you need a copy, ask us before 1 December 2026 and we will send it to you.
