Discontinuation of Nidoma's DNS Service
DNS record management in Nidoma is now disabled: it is no longer possible to add new records or modify existing ones. Currently, we only keep active the DNS zones that already existed when the service management was disabled, with the configurations that were frozen at that time.
On December 1, 2026, we will permanently discontinue our custom DNS zone service. From that date, we will stop responding to queries for the corresponding records, including the MX records needed to receive email. To ensure the continuity of your website and email, you must transfer DNS management to another provider before that date.
We have made this decision to adapt our company to the European regulatory framework, taking into account that there are currently specialized providers offering excellent DNS management services, often free of charge, and that give you greater control.
We know this change is inconvenient. That’s why we explain how to proceed step by step and help you if you need it.
Does this change affect you?
Yes, if your domain uses our name servers (ns1.nidomans.com and ns2.nidomans.com) and has custom records: a website (A or CNAME records), email (MX records), or email verification and authentication (TXT, SPF, or DKIM records).
No, and you don’t need to do anything, if:
- your domain already uses another provider's name servers;
- your domain has no custom records and only displays Nidoma's parking page;
- your domain is for sale in our marketplace.
This does not change the registration, renewal, or ownership of your domains, nor your backorders or pending orders. Only where the DNS records are managed changes.
The deadline
DNS management is already disabled. Until the service is discontinued on December 1, 2026, we will keep the previously configured records operational, without the possibility of adding or modifying them.
As of December 1, 2026, we will stop serving custom DNS records, including MX records. If you have not completed the migration, your website and email delivery will stop working with these settings.
You can transfer DNS management to another provider starting now. We recommend completing the change with enough time to verify that all services are working correctly.
What you need to do
- Save a copy of the currently configured records. You can check them in the domain management panel. If you prefer, ask us for a copy and we will send it to you.
- Choose where to manage your DNS. Your hosting provider usually includes this service; as an alternative, Cloudflare offers it for free. You’ll find the guide below.
- Create the records with the new provider, copying the ones you already have configured.
- Replace the domain's name servers with those indicated by the new provider. If you cannot do it yourself, write to us and we will do it for you.
- Verify that everything works, especially the website and email. The change may take a few hours to propagate across the Internet and, in some cases, up to 24–48 hours.
To avoid interruptions, copy and verify all records before changing the name servers and complete the process with enough time before December 1, 2026. This way, during propagation, both the old and new name servers can provide the same responses.
Step-by-step guide with Cloudflare
Cloudflare offers DNS management on its Free plan, with a complete panel and a global network.
- Create an account at cloudflare.com or log in to an existing one.
- Add your domain ("Add a domain") and select the Free plan.
- Review the records detected by Cloudflare. Cloudflare tries to copy the current records, but may not detect all of them: less common subdomains and email authentication records, such as DKIM TXT records, are the ones most likely to be missed. Compare them with the list you prepared and add any that are missing.
- Keep email unproxied. MX records do not use the proxy. The A, AAAA, or CNAME records of the mail servers they point to must also remain in "DNS only" mode, indicated by the gray cloud. For the website, you can enable the proxy, indicated by the orange cloud, if you wish to use Cloudflare's features.
- Note the two name servers assigned by Cloudflare, of the type name.ns.cloudflare.com.
- Replace the domain's name servers with those assigned by Cloudflare, or ask us to do it for you.
- Wait for confirmation. Cloudflare will notify you by email when the domain is active. From that moment on, you can manage the records directly in Cloudflare whenever you want.
If your domain has DNSSEC enabled, contact us before step 6: it is necessary to disable it before the change and re-enable it afterward in Cloudflare.
Other providers
The procedure is the same with any DNS provider: create the domain zone, copy the records, change the name servers, and verify that everything works.
If your website is hosted with another provider, first check whether the hosting service already includes DNS management: it is often the simplest solution.
Frequently asked questions
Can I continue modifying DNS records in Nidoma?
No. Management is disabled: we only temporarily keep operational the configurations that already existed when the service management was disabled. To add or modify records, you must transfer management to another provider.
Do I have to pay anything?
Not to us. Many providers include DNS management and Cloudflare offers it free of charge on its Free plan.
Will my website or email suffer interruptions?
The change can be done without interruptions if you correctly copy all records to the new provider before changing the name servers and complete the migration with enough time before the service is discontinued. Always verify that the website and email work after the change.
What happens if I do nothing?
Until the service is discontinued on December 1, 2026, the already configured records will continue to work, without the possibility of modifying them. From that date, we will stop serving custom records, including MX: the website linked to the previous configuration and email delivery will stop working until you complete the change. Domains that remain on our name servers will display Nidoma's parking page. The domain will still be yours.
Can you handle it for me?
We help you: we can send you a copy of the records and change the domain's name servers once you have completed the configuration with the new provider. Write to us.
Will I lose my records?
You can keep them by saving a copy before the service is discontinued. If you need them, ask us for a copy before December 1, 2026, and we will send it to you.
